The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.
Ben Stein
I remember being a child of around 9 or 10 and making a bucket list. I also remember thinking that my life was going to be too short to accomplish all of the things on my list. But I have always had a list since then and I have spent a good portion of my life achieving the things on my list.
I met a man 7 years ago and we have been married 3 years now. We created a new bucket list together. He has things to do and places to go that I have already done so I have what I call my re-bucket list. You can go back to the same places and do some of the same things at a different time or with a different person and it is a completely new experience.

So I use my bucket list like a road map to where Im going and what I am up to in my life. It gives me purpose and inspiration and it reflects my values. It is my vision of what I want to accomplish in my life. It always gives me something to look forward to. It makes me happy when I think of all the interesting people I will meet and the exotic places that I will go in the future.
When I share the things on my list with other people it often inspired them to create things in their life that they can be up to. I also find excitement and receive encouragement from other people when I share my goals with them.
Several years ago I decided that I wanted to compete in a tri-athlon, which is something that I had previously deemed impossible. I found a partner to help train with me. For six months we ran, swam and cycled together. Another person helped me with my eating habits and phoned me every morning at 6:45 am. to give me support. When the day of the race came my daughters were there at the finish line cheering me on. It was an amazing feeling to have completed that event, especially with the support I received from so many people in my life. As a result of my success several people in my life were inspired by this and took up the challenge to complete a tri-athlon. Im sure that after their success even more people were inspired to take on things that they once thought were not possible for them.
Accomplishing things on my bucket list definitely has helped to raise my self confidence and gives me an opportunity to celebrate these milestones in my life. Its a way to track my successes in life and be aware of the footprint that I am leaving on the planet.

Have you ever wondered why people cannot lose weight with all of the many different diets that are available? It is clearly evident that dieting does not work, so what can you do to lose weight and keep it off? Here are ten fat loss tips that can help you to finally reach your weight loss goals.

1. If you want to burn fat, you need to lift weights as well as perform some type of aerobic activity like walking, treadmill running or playing a sport. How much muscle that you have will determine what your metabolic rate is like. If you build muscle, you will help to increase your metabolism and make fat burning easier.

2. Do not weigh yourself. Your scale does not tell you if you are burning fat or building muscle and it can not tell you how much fluid that you have. If you weigh yourself, all of these things can have a huge impact upon your weight and it can also determine your mood for the day.

3. Realize that muscle weighs more than fat, but it takes up much less space in your body. It does not sag or look lumpy. Muscle can help your body to look toned and lean.

4. Do not skip breakfast. Breakfast helps to start up your metabolism in the morning, so you will want to be sure that you eat breakfast each and every day.

5. Watch your calorie intake. Do not cut your caloric intake to less than 1200 calories or your body will move into starvation mode and quit burning fat.

6. Change your eating habits to eating five or six small meals a day, rather than three larger meals. This helps to keep your metabolism up and will allow your blood sugar levels to stay more balanced.

7. Keep track of your calories. Keep track of your calories for a week or so, average them, and then decrease this amount by 300-500 to see if it can help you lose weight. This is the easiest and simplest way to lose weight.

8. Try to stay away from yo-yo dieting. Diet after diet will only make it more difficult to lose weight and keep it off, because your metabolism will not be able to deal with the changes.

9. Watch your fat intake. You want to look for foods that are less than 10 grams of fat, but want to stay around 5 grams of fat per serving if possible. This will allow you to eat right and lose weight.

10. Fat is stored in your body. This fat storage works as a reserve of energy tank for your body to use later.

When you begin to add these ten tips to your life, you will find that your weight will begin decreasing and your muscles become toned. You will begin to feel better and have more energy. What can be better than that?

This article is for serious weight losers only. If you are one of these select few, take three minutes out of your day to read this article. This is serious weight loss for serious people.

Here are the components you need to lose weight…fast.

Serious Weight Loss

1. A Fast Metabolism

A fast metabolism is vital to your weight loss success. It multiplies the effectiveness of your efforts. The first thing you need to do is boost your metabolism. There are many ways to do this, some of which are much more effective than others.

2. The Courage to Succeed

Many people believe weight loss is either too hard, or even impossible for them. Let me tell you something right now.

It will be EXTREMELY difficult (maybe even impossible) for you to achieve your weight loss goals with this attitude. In other words, you’ve already lost the battle before it has even begun.

I have spoken to many people who have attitudes that reek of helplessness and self-doubt. If this sounds like you, consider this your virtual slap in the face. You will be successful, if you think you will be. Simple as that.

3. Meal Program

You need a healthy, effective, and efficient weight loss meal program. You can do everything else in the world, but you will continue to back on the weight as long as your eating habits stay the same.

4. Cardio and Weight Training Plan

You need to a way to burn tons of calories, as well as tone your body into that sexy shape you desire. This is where a cardio and weight training plan come in.

Just on a side note, weight training will also boost your metabolism since muscle burns much more calories than fat.

Obesity is becoming a larger problem not only among adults but children as well. Our lifestyles do not always permit us to have the time and/or energy to fit in exercise to our daily routine. Eating habits have conformed to what is easy and convenient, not what is healthy. People are bombarded by a plethora of information on exercise and fitness from numerous sources. Many do not have the time to gather all of the information in order to establish a solid workout routine to improve their fitness. This is a problem because an individual’s overall fitness can affect their health.

So what do I mean by overall fitness? In my opinion, overall fitness is comprised of three factors: activity, diet, and motivation. Activity is essentially how active you are. Do you exercise regularly, play sports, or take part in some sort of activity that could be designated as exercise? Weight lifting, biking, swimming, running, playing basketball, or taking a yoga class would all fall under activity in overall fitness. Although, it is not limited to these activities mentioned. The more active you are, the better your overall fitness will be.

The second component is diet. People tend to sometimes claim ignorance on this aspect. Many people tell me, “I just don’t know how to eat healthy.” Eating healthy in large part is simply common sense. I think the average person knows that grilled chicken and vegetables is healthier than eating a hamburger and fries. We sometimes say we don’t know when we really do. Calorie consumption and portion control are also two key elements in an individual’s diet. Nutrition facts on the items we buy will help with these two elements. Many times the serving portions are smaller than most of us are probably used to. The key is not to totally deprive yourself of everything because then you set yourself up for failure. You can eat desserts, french fries, and pizza but the key is doing it in moderation.

The last component of overall fitness is motivation. This is probably the most important component of the three. Why you ask? Well think about it, if you are not motivated to exercise and eat right, then how are you going to improve your fitness? The two most difficult aspects to motivation are getting started and staying consistent. Many people will keep putting off exercising or changing their diet. The key is to just start it. You don’t have to do it on the first day of the week or month. You can start right now.

The second aspect of motivation is staying consistent. Now that you have chosen to start exercising and eating right, it’s time to maintain it. Incorporate eating healthy and exercising into your daily routine. Make it part of your day just like working or going to school is. If you set a routine, you will be more likely to follow it.

All of these aspects of your overall fitness of course can be broken down even further. It’s important to focus on each one of these and try to improve each of them. If you can do that, you’re well on your way to improving your overall fitness.
